A transformer quote can be fast, but a useful transformer quote needs the right information. When the request only says “we need a 100 W transformer” or “please quote a power transformer,” the supplier has to make assumptions. Those assumptions may be wrong, and the project loses time later during sampling or testing.
BaoHui Tech works as a transformer manufacturer for high frequency transformers, power transformers, inductors, filters, inverter magnetic components, and custom transformer projects. The checklist below helps engineering and purchasing teams prepare a clearer RFQ.
Electrical requirements
The basic electrical data should include input voltage, output voltage, rated current, peak current, power, frequency, and circuit topology. For high frequency transformers, include switching frequency, duty cycle, waveform, and whether the design is flyback, forward, LLC, half-bridge, full-bridge, push-pull, or another topology.
Mechanical limits
Many transformer designs are limited by PCB space, enclosure height, mounting position, pin layout, or wire lead direction. A custom transformer manufacturer can often adjust the design, but the available space must be known early.
Insulation and safety requirements
Insulation should not be left until the end of the project. State the required hipot voltage, insulation class, creepage and clearance expectations, safety standard, and whether reinforced insulation is needed. If the transformer will be used in EV charging, medical equipment, industrial controls, grid-connected systems, or export products, safety requirements may shape the entire structure.
Thermal and environmental conditions
Temperature rise is one of the main reasons transformer samples fail during testing. Share ambient temperature, enclosure type, airflow condition, duty cycle, maximum surface temperature, and nearby heat sources. A transformer that passes in open air may fail inside a compact power supply.
Compliance and testing
If the transformer must support UL, ISO, IATF, CE-related product testing, or customer-specific reliability testing, say so before sampling. Also share any required production tests, such as turns ratio, inductance, leakage inductance, DCR, hipot, no-load current, load voltage, and temperature rise.
FAQ
Can a transformer manufacturer design from a sample?
Often yes, but a sample alone is not enough for safety and reliability. Electrical requirements, operating conditions, and application details should still be provided.
Does BaoHui Tech support custom transformer projects?
Yes. BaoHui Tech supports custom transformer manufacturing for high frequency transformers, power transformers, inductors, filters, and inverter-related magnetic components.
